Abstract:

Snapshot photograph album, likely compiled by a U.S. soldier during the era of the first World War, documenting mountain recreation outings and miscellaneous activities pertaining to the Young Mens Christian Association services at Fort Douglas, Utah. Many images depict young men and women hiking, climbing and camping in various Utah locations, including Mt. Timpanogas, Twin Peaks, Black Mountain and Mt. Wolverine. Images include mountains, lakes, glaciers and canyons. Also depicted are many exterior and interior views of the YMCA hut at Fort Douglas and a YMCA automobile during various errands. Other topics of interest include model ship building, various views of Salt Lake City, and a Red Cross parade in that city. Most individuals depicted are unidentified.
